Everyone is abusive in one way or another.
Physically, emotionally, or psychologically.
To survive on this planet required it for so long; the constant battle for resources. Now, even though we live in a time of opulence, the ingrained desire is still present. This translates into our modern world as a natural desire for attention. In today’s world attention is food. A narcissist’s desire for attention is so inflated that they are willing to hurt themselves and the people around them to get it. Like an animal.
The late Johnny Carson said that anyone who wanted to be on TV was a narcissist; because fame and the desire for fame is inherently destructive. It removes us from our natural, healthy, and nurturing social structure. On the surface, in the same way, everyone on social media is a narcissist, as the demands social media makes on people are damaging. It is possible to use social media responsibly, but that requires self esteem, internal discipline, and a well defined personality.
In the media, the pressure is to have control of our own public image. Thus, politics has become a game to tarnish the public image of competitors. Politicians and other influencers go to great lengths to defend their public image. For people suffering from uncertainties and inconsistencies, this involves demanding others to support their delusions. As time goes by, people get better and better at getting others to support their delusions.
Eventually the camel’s back breaks along with the chains of social control, and the pillars of the temple come crashing down. Because,..
…everyone is abusive in one way or another.
