Showing everyone how to survive the chaos.

Most Westerners do not realize that Muslims view Jesus as a prophet of God—just not the final prophet of God. In the 4th-century the Councils of Nicaea and Constantinople officially established the Holy Trinity by “promoting” Jesus to divine status. An act that, over the long run, led many to value the figure of Jesus over his actual message.Today, we are living in a mess fueled largely by people who think they can trigger the Second Coming by doubling down on reckless, dangerous policies. As the chaos ramps up, I cannot help but think they might actually get their wish… just not in the way they’re expecting.

When the world goes sideways and everything seems to be going insane, people tend to retreat into their imagination. Their beliefs become more important than reality. Almost everyone is guilty of this in one way or another. The people who reject modern medicine are as guilty of fanaticism as the people who believe modern medicine is the solution to everything. This slide into madness usually starts when a society transitions from a time of abundance to a time of scarcity: from feast to famine.

We all build our lives with routines, and over time we become entrenched in the established pattern. But, as the environment changes our situation gets worse as we cling to routines that are no longer optimal. We need to adapt our routines to continue on peacefully. This creates stress, and since no one wants to be responsible for their own behaviors and choices, they hide in their beliefs and hope that someone or something comes to make it all go back to how it used to be. The more the pressure to adapt exerts itself, the more people reflexively use their beliefs to resist adaptation, making the descent into chaos increase exponentially.

To me, a “prophet” is simply someone who can keep their head while everyone else is losing theirs to belief-driven insanity. Throughout history, prophets have always emerged when the world was falling apart. Every instance is just a new version of Lot surviving the collapse of Sodom and Gomorrah—but, each one a reflection of our slowly evolving civilization.

Thus, it is my opinion that we are about to see a new kind of prophet emerge. Despite all of the efforts being made, a prophet could never be drawn forth like a snake enthralled by the music of a snake charmer. This time,  the prophet will not be a single individual, but groups of people who can adapt their routines to sustain their communities and stay locked into reality in this modern world—especially the reality of a world full of lunatics hellbent on burning it all down.
