For the fiction writers.
In the past I had the idea for a crime thriller storyline, where hackers and con-artists steal a guy’s identity and use it to double cross drug dealers as a cover for hacking his accounts and stealing his money. The hackers Make it look like the guy lost all his money trying to get into the drug dealing bussiness, but the victim never knows what is happening until after all the money is gone,.. or even with the hackers manipulating the drug dealers into killing the guy so they could get away completely undetected.
Today, my head has an alternate to this scenario rolling around and doing dammage. It is the same general dynamic, but with sexual harassment and pedophilia. Without the victim’s awareness, hackers and con-artists steal his identity and hack his accounts to make it appear that he is an isolated pervert with no control. These hackers then steal his accounts and estate in a way that makes it look like he is paying off his “victims” to stay silent. All the while, however, it is just the hackers using a fake narrative to con the community and steal his estate. After all his money is gone, the victims learns of the slander too late and the community dismisses him for his falsely perceived crimes.
These storylines both hinge on the idea of using the expert narrative control that is seen in politics and the corporate media, but on a smaller “street corner” scale. This is what modern technology affords people; the ability for small groups to use the same tactics that once were only available to militaries and international corporations.
