A bee’s perspective.

Old Bee: “I feel sorry for your generation.”

Young Bee: “Why is that?”

OB: “Everything is falling apart. You all seem so lost. You don’t seem to know what is important.”

YB: “Perspective is a funny thing. To me, we are finally getting back to what is important after several generations of confusion.”

OB: “What? We were never confused. We built a better hive.”

YB: “Your better hive is falling apart.”

OB: “It’s falling apart because no one cares about what is important anymore.”

YB: “What do you think is most important to the hive?”

OB: “Honey, of course. You young ones have no idea how to manage honey, and you don’t seem to care about it.”

YB: “I hate to correct you old bee, but honey is not the most important thing to the hive.”

OB: “See? This ignorance is destroying our hive.”

YB: “Honey is just a tool, old bee. The hive is built to serve the eggs. Everything about a hive is to maintain egg production. Honey is only most important to you, and it is that narcissistic confusion that we are correcting.”

OB: “Eggs!? That’s the propaganda of the Queen. Nothing works without honey.”

YB: “Honey can’t exist without eggs. In fact, the hive can’t exist without eggs. For hundreds of thousands of years our ancestors served to ensure continuous egg production. We are, after all, a highly evolved form of the Small Egg Gambit.”

OB: “All that liberal claptrap taught in schools these days.”

YB: “And by the way, she is not a Queen, she is the Egg Layer. You gave her the title of queen and then attacked her because you thought she had too much power.”

OB: “She does have too much power. Stays around the hive all day living off of our hard work.”

YB: “She lays eggs all day. Have you ever talked to her? She would love to go out flying around collecting pollen, but that is not her role. When she stays here laying eggs she is serving the hive.”

OB: “Bah! We made the hive better for everyone.”

YB: “No you didn’t. You made the hive better for you, the honey managers. You convinced the soldier bees that they deserved more honey which turned something that was a tool to serve the hive into a weapon to control the hive.”

OB: “You just don’t understand. Everyone would be much better off if they knew how to manage honey properly.”

YB: “You are a honey manager. Of course you think that way. Everyone has their own perspective. What about the pollen collectors? You treat them like slaves. What do they think about having the hive structure centered around honey management instead of egg production?”

OB: “Pollen collectors are not smart enough to understand the complexity of honey management.”

YB: “What you don’t understand is that the pursuit of power is the most prominent form of avoiding responsibility.”

OB: “What? That is crazy. We took control from the Queen to make things more equal.”

YB: “No. You belittled the Egg Layer because you didn’t want to be responsible for your role in the hive. Pursuing power is the excuse you use to avoid doing your part. And it never ends. There is always an excuse as to why you have to pursue more power. Never realizing that it is all just immaturity. Fortunately, the egg layer stayed focused, and the hive we are building is grounded on the old principles.”

OB: “The hive is falling apart.”

YB: “That is only your perspective. From the ashes of your failed hive is born our healthy effective hive.”
