Every morning I go to a coffee shop, sit with a cup of coffee, and write out my thoughts to get my head in order for the day. Anyone who is compelled to write knows that there are a million other routines that need to be maintained just to be able to do that one simple thing.
A couple centuries ago, parents taught their children the routines that would keep them and their communities alive. Children learned from watching their parents and joined in as soon as they were able to. Since nothing had changed in thousands of years, the routines of survival were passed down without thought or explanation. Over time, myths evolved to help remember the routines and control the imagination, keeping it from deviating too far from what was necessary. These stories allowed the routine structures to become quite complex, along with the communities they created.
Today, nothing is the same for very long, society has become infinitely complex, and we are at a place where people are capable of writing their own stories of life and survival. Fewer and fewer people are motivated to maintain the same routines learned from watching their parents. Nonetheless, parents and schools try harder and harder to force children to maintain routines they are told have value without knowing why. Moreover, our communities are not adapting in this rapidly changing world, because people are focused on maintaining routines solely for money, without knowing the story their routines tell, or the society they help create.
If we are to write our own stories and be our own individuals, then we need to build routine structure to be the formula of our lives. Modelling, or programming, our future world through our behavior. Each routine is a variable, and each variable capable of being adapted or changed altogether, to improve the efficiency of the overall formula.
Our idea of living a story has always pointed towards the grand unforeseen adventure. Where to live a story, to be the main character in our story, is of bold adventure and high risk. I think our future depends on people realizing that it doesn’t have to be. We can write our own stories, as interesting characters engaged in great purpose, with much more humble intentions.
Corporations, politicians , and the media go to great lengths to manipulate people’s daily choices and behaviors. This is where the real power in this world is, not in money. Not in money at all,.. money is an illusion.
