If people lived in an environment long enough, centuries, millenia, not only will they adapt to the environment in their behavior and routines, but they will develop a mythology that records those behaviors and routines into a cultural memory.
If the environment is ever disturbed, then the behaviors and routines of those integrated people work to heal the land and return it to balance. Like an organism building scar tissue over a wound. The myths and memories were never just superficial stories of past events.
Recently, technology and rapid population growth have altered the environment so that it is completely disconnected from all of the past myths and stories. The question we must answer is, is the environment damaged beyond repair or must we work to adapt to a new environment and build a new mythology to maintain a sustainable balance?
