We have all experienced it. That passive aggressive game where all the people in a house refuse to wash the dirty dishes in the sink. Everyone making a political statement about what they are and are not willing to be responsible for. The days pass and the kitchen grows so disgusting that people change their behaviors and routines to avoid it all. Eating out all the time or eating off paper plates. This is free market capitalism.

Under Free Market Capitalism it is acceptable and expected that people simply ignore the things they do not wish to be responsible for with the assumption that someone will eventually come around to take responsibility.

The error of Marxist Socialism is that it does not allow for the realities of human nature within a population. The error of Free Market Capitalism is that it does not acknowledge that there are problems that no one is willing to be responsible for. (Or, that problems are often more profitable to exploit than to solve.) Thus, under the pressure of free market capitalism, we see western democracies crumble as politicians simply ignore problems that need to be addressed. (allowing corporations to exploit them instead.)

The purpose of government is to take responsibility for that which no one wants to be responsible for. And if we believe in evolution, then it should be clear that governments exists for a reason and are necessary. Otherwise, they would not exist. Throughout history, in many forms and variations, there has always been a means to impose shared responsibility onto a population.

The primary purpose of government is to impose shared responsibility onto a population. This is why it is so important to know who is in control of the government, and what their intentions are.
