To build a vision of the future, and a plan to achieve that vision, requires being realistic about ourselves in the present. It is impossible to navigate to a distant point if we do not know our current location. People who cannot or will not see themselves as who they are now, spend all of their time and energy micromanaging their present image. Each time they try to make a first step, they have to fight against reality. For them, building into the future is impossible.
