It is a peculiar thing to watch someone walk into a breakfast place that has a drive through, grab food that they ordered online, and go out to eat it in their car. All the while there are plenty of empty, comfortable tables available.
In my mind is the image of a beehive going through a division process. At some point, for reasons beyond my understanding, bees will make another queen and the hive will divide in two. With the new smaller group taking off to live elsewhere.
We have all witnessed, in many different ways, people express the innate desire for those “other people” to go somewhere else. Whether it be racism or sexism, homophobia or political isolationism, or the desire for an asteroid impact or the pandemic to have been worse.
I begin to think that this social and political collapse we are witnessing is an innate response to a stressed environment. We are not consciously aware of what is happening to us. We are not that mature yet. We can only watch the results of our reactions and try to cope the best we can.
Hopefully we learn from what we are experiencing.
