I am currently working on a project that I would like to keep emotionally neutral. Emotions get recorded in our art, whether we like it or not. The best art is created when the current emotional energy of the artist matches the intent of the art they are in the process of creating.
My problem is that I am immersed in an environment of sharp, toxic energy. I am surrounded by people actively avoiding changes they must go through. They are fighting against the responsibility of making choices that address these necessary changes with denial and blame. Every day that goes by, these people become more miserable, and the more miserable they get, the more they accuse and attack others for their misery.
So, I try to create rituals to separate myself from that environment before engaging in my art. But, these people see what is happening and are willing to make the choices that adapt their behavior in their fight against their own responsibility. Hence, they have learned to attack my rituals.
It is almost as though they are consciously trying to get my art to express their misery, because they don’t even want to be responsible for their own emotions.
