I had a chance to commune with a Bald Eagle today. I was on a walk along a river and decided to rest on a large rock. It flew up to alight on a nearby branch with the clear intention of imparting wisdom. There could be no other reason such a creature would choose to come to rest so close to the likes of me.
I received a vision of people engaged in a battle of will; all of whom were completely disconnected from their own environment, their own intention, and their own reality. Then I saw the same people sitting in a cafe, or a bar, and they had everything they were supposed to have, all the things they were taught were important, and yet they were still depressed and miserable. They all sat in the same cafe, but each at their own table and they all kept to themselves. They had used their creative energy to build a life that was isolated and dead.
The Eagle then dropped from the branch and swooped down towards the river as a skate’s heel on a bow-bend, extending its talons and jabbing into the water. It pulled up a fish and flew low and away up the river. The last thought it pushed into my mind was of the hell that it is to be so good and exact at creating the world around us that we remove ourselves from our ability to be creative.
