The debate between Capitalism and Communism is over. Capitalism won that fight outright. The debate between Capitalism and Socialism is equally pointless. Not because either side won, but because of synthesis.

The Hegelian Dialectic has a thesis attracting an antithesis, and the battle between the two results in synthesis; or the creation of a new thesis.

While it is still early days, private socialism is proving to be stronger than public socialism in many ways. It should be clear that corporations are already the new nation\state, and all corporations, by their very nature, have a socialist structure.

I believe what we will witness over the coming decades is the continuation of the battle between workers and managers, but with a narrower, more specific focus. Each corporation will struggle to find the right balance for its own success, depending on market sector and ambient culture. This inherent variation will create a spectrum, with industries that are more despotic socialist at one end, and industries that are almost purely democratic socialist at the other. It is the nature of the workers that will dictate the outcome. Certain types of laborers require and prefer a heavier hand, and certain types of laborers need more flexibility and engagement.

Public socialism will not disappear. In fact, what we understand to be government will slowly, but radically change to cope with this new reality. Governments will focus more on managing corporations and less on providing for people. This will not appear as it sounds, for we are currently biased by the corruption we see around us.

Changes will begin in earnest when the workers stop focusing on what the government can do for them, and start focusing on making their corporation better for their well being and productivity directly.
