At one end of the spectrum there are people who consider the concept of “Building a Life” strictly in material terms. They work to acquire certain objects to arrange them around themselves for everyone to see. They even consider other people as objects to be displayed.

On the other end of the spectrum are people who view the concept of “Building a Life” in terms of routines, behaviors, and personalities. These people work to establish a lifestyle to do certain things with increasing efficiency and accuracy. They see other people as potential extensions to their system of processes.

These two extremes can exist symbiotically, but only if they respect one another and never try to project their intentions onto the other. For a materialist to keep a behaviorist as an object, or for a behaviorist to insist a materialist maintain consistent routines and behaviors, will only end in a conflict that no one can win.
