Fluctuations within fluctuations. Ups and downs within ups and down. Fluctuations within the ups, and Fluctuations within the downs. It is how the climate changes, how economies rise and then fall back down again, In a field, a population of mice must adapt to survive three different predators; raptors, foxes, and snakes. Never is the pressure from these predators consistent. Sometimes the raptors are the greatest threat, sometimes the foxes, and sometimes the snakes. Evolving populations experience fluctuations within fluctuations as pressure shifts from threat to another. Like a murmuration of starlings, dominance shifts within a population… dictated by the ever oscillating environment.
