An individual who is fully engaged with the natural environment is perceived as being savage. They ignore information about other people’s needs and the things going on around them to focus solely on what the natural environment is telling them. Wild animals have no choice; they are not aware of any other environment they can focus on. We humans have created many overlapping and conflicting environments. Civilization is maintained by the ability to prioritize these environments appropriately, and crashes when people become lost in the wrong environments.
A person who is completely engrossed in the financial environment is just as savage as a person living in a cave;.. or, a person completely engaged in social media, or their work, or their art, or family, or their favorite team, and so on. Each form of savagery has its own characteristics, but they are all equally destructive to civilization. In truth, when an individual is truly in tune with their environment it is often a beautiful thing to watch, like a jazz musician fully immersed in the groove, but seldom a very nice thing to experience when they go home and fight with their spouse about all the things they are neglecting.
Sometimes we have no choice, like with addiction we are compelled to live in only one environment; ignoring all else around us. Sometimes this is a physical addiction, like drugs or gambling, and other times it is a psychological addiction that compels us to stay hidden within the environment of our imaginations. (Logic and confusion, theories and fantasies all exist within the human imagination.) Everyone who suffers from these addictions will see anyone who tries to pull them out of their preferred environment as a threat.
We live in a world where the rulers are savages that live in nice houses, who look down on the savages who do not, and consider anyone who would try to maintain this civilization as enemies.
