This is a theoretical association to provoke thought, a shift in perspective on a societal level. Not a judgement of right and wrong, or blame. We are all passengers on this cruise ship, and all people deserve to be free and respected.

Most people have the virus that causes Shingles in their bodies lying dormant; varicella zoster virus. When we are young and healthy it is easy for our bodies to keep the virus in check. However, as we become older and/or unhealthy, even from excess stress, the virus can reemerge causing a painful and itchy rash.

There are, always have been, and always will be, people in our society that are homosexual and/or gender fluid. If a society is healthy and well-balanced the population of these people is small and the society is relatively content. As a society becomes stressed and falls apart the population of these people not only explodes and the society becomes irritated and uncomfortable.

From my perspective, I see that there is a shift occurring, but it is not a shift about sexuality or gender. It is a shift on a societal level, not an individual level. A shift, or readjustment in our perception of social connections and community structure. When the shift is complete, the LGBTQ community will quietly shrink away naturally and all of the changes that were forced on this society, based on a biased perception of the individual, will be regretted.

Every person who gets Shingles comes away with a different perspective of themselves.
