It is not too difficult to understand logically where the next famine is coming from, but it is very tricky to see it in real time. We all know how important it is to have a positive attitude in this modern world: a positive attitude and a resilience to undermining behavior. Our attitude and assumptions can either open doors or close doors. This is not only true for individual people, but also for organizations and institutions,.. and for nations and the world as a whole.
For a long time, building over several generations, the collective view / vision of The United States, made by all the people on Earth, was positive. The land of opportunity, and streets paved with gold. This view opened doors for our country. People were ready and willing to give The U.S. the benefit of the doubt and even help it along, as though it were the handsome captain of the football team at any high school. As a result, and along with some genuine ingenuity, The U.S. flourished and expanded. So much so, that most of our entire world has become propped up by American expansion. However, beginning in the 1950’s cracks in the veneer began to come into view, and as The U.S. continued to expand, arrogance and lack of foresight abused the good will of the people of other nations.
Slowly at first, and building exponentially over the decades, people’s view of The United States has deteriorated. And the more people dislike The U.S., the harder The U.S. has to work to keep those old doors open, which causes more negative views of The United States. A descending spiral.
It really is no small feat to change the perception of all the people on Earth. It cannot be done overnight or in a single generation. Not even with the best propaganda and marketing tools available. At some point the balance will tip. I would argue that the tipping point is right before us.
In the cycle of feast and famine, we are standing on the precipice of famine. Not a famine caused by drought or a huge asteroid, but famine caused by the breakdown of human good will. A famine caused by the fact that a majority of people on Earth no longer trust or like The United States and how it has expanded. With all the doors closed, the old structure will suffer a tragic fall from grace that the handsome hero of high school will struggle to accept.
