Famine comes on like a fire: slow at first, mostly smoke, then the conflagration builds exponentially to consume everything; peeling away the layers of decadence.

The brochure life, built around the objects and routines that convey the illusion of maturity, balance, and happiness, is like “relaxing” at a resort pool: always aware of how one should appear in order to fit in.

Immersed in this pool illusion, people splash the waters to protect themselves from the flames that peel away the layers. And, while focused on the splashing, they herd themselves to the parts of the pool perceived to be the safest.

The elders, the mature ones, regardless of their age, are not impervious to the peeling flames; but, they understand it as an experience of this Earth… the shedding of each layer is as unique as a beautiful sunset.
