A sleek Mercedes comes into the parking lot. There are only a few cars and plenty of open spaces. The Mercedes is slow, wiggles a little as if from indecision, and then pulls into the handicapped spot instead of the spot right next to it. All the windows on the Mercedes are tinted so nothing inside of the car can be seen... except for a hand that appears and leaves a blue placard hanging from the mirror. The driver's door opens,.. a person gets out and walks into the cafe.
The danger of individualistic capitalism is that it is too isolating, pitting everyone against each other. Even grandparents against their children and grandchildren.
From our animal past, love will always be an emotion that indicates safety. As we evolved, however, love slowly became an emotion that helps us identify the parts of our individuality that exist outside of our body. Whether they exist naturally or must be nurtured into existence.
… and a nation slowly divides.
