A system of control that depends on the controlled to maintain the system that controls them is inherently flawed. Like Soviet Russia of old, the workers, slowly at first, stop repairing elements of their servitude. Starting with the small things that are inconsequential and becoming more brazen, this quiet resistance builds exponentially over time.
Each individual wants to build a system of routines in their life that enables and facilitates their vision and understanding of themselves in the world. A writer builds different routines from a musician or a carpenter. When power and authority is used for a small minority of people to force the routines of a society around their vision of the routines in their own lives, the seeds of conflict are planted. Total destruction is harvested when the vision and routines of these rulers are centered on their vanity.
