We all have to grow up.

Growing up requires that we go through a series of changes in attitude and perspective. An individual will have to change to become a successful spouse, then a successful parent, and grandparent. With each step we first must see ourselves as a part of something larger, and then change attitude and behavior to be effective in this new role. This process never ends.

The hurdle is that there are different aspects of society that we are growing into. Going through the process of becoming a grandparent is different from the process that starts with being a worker, then manager, and finishing as an owner.

Most of these growth processes are interconnected. However, in a healthy sustainable society, there are processes of growth that are not connected and are best pursued by individuals who are willing to exclude themselves from a “normal” life.
