Tyranny is based on the corruption of reason.
In the past it was religious fanaticism that drove tyranny. The thought that we could live in a perfect world if people would just be perfect. Leaders had an idea of how a society should work based on some religious vision of perfection and they would start passing laws to force this vision into reality. Tyranny becomes absurd as time goes by and it becomes obvious that it is not working. The leaders start passing increasingly illogical laws to try to make the initial laws work better. Eventually they end up passing laws just to protect their own fanaticism… blaming the people for their failure.
More recently it is not religion that fuels this fanaticism, but capitalism. The pursuit of profit corrupts the system, then the leaders have to pass increasingly illogical laws to protect the decisions that were based solely on greed. A good example of this will be seen in police robots patrolling the streets. The only reason I can think of for the police to use robots to patrol the public is that a company that produces robots bribed public officials to give them tax payer money. To make this system work laws will have to be passed, and those laws will become increasingly absurd.
The first law will be to ban paintball guns, as those can be used to disable robots by covering their sensors and cameras with paint from a distance. Then, spray paint will be heavily restricted, and eventually all paint in general, as hoodlums become more creative. In desperation, they will start doing random searches on youths out on a Friday night and punishing them for having condiment packets in their pockets. They will probably have to ban condiment packets outright.
Now, these two processes have combined. The fanatics who are dedicated to the religion of Transhumanism are using the corrupting leverage of capitalism to push their vision of perfection. By now, from what we witnessed over the past three years, this should be obvious.
