We all express our identity into the environment around us through our words, actions, and behavior. The source of this identity is called the Self. It is impossible to know exactly where the Self resides, but judging from the experience of being human in contact with the environment there are three options.
The first option is that we have a spirit Self that sends data and energy down into us that is processed through the Human Mechanism and expressed out into the environment. The second option is that the Human Mechanism is a feedback machine that receives data and energy from the environment, processes it, then expresses the response back out into the environment. Thus, the Self would be seen in the uniqueness of the Human Mechanism. The third option is both of these together. That there is a spirit Self that only occasionally sends data and energy down to nudge us in a different direction. Otherwise, we are just a simple feedback machine, that is, in itself, a unique expression of the spirit Self in a specific environment.
If a person is seen as not behaving “normally” the options are that the spirit Self is trying to nudge the person in a direction that is not accepted or understood, the environment is sending information that is not accepted or understood, or the Human Mechanism is broken and not processing data and energy properly. (Or, a certain combination of these three things, which I will ignore here to keep myself sane.) In our current society it is absolutely forbidden to say any abnormal behavior is a result of the spirit Self trying to make adjustments, and it is sternly frowned upon to think that our behavior is the result of information received from the environment. The only accepted interpretation of abnormal behavior is that the Human Mechanism is broken and must be fixed with medical treatment. I have no doubt that this last option is often the case, but to consider it as the only option is an expression of Self destruction on a societal level.
These are important concepts if we wish to think about the structure of a sustainable society and the roles people play in it. As our environment changes, our behavior must change and the structure of our society must change. What we have witnessed over the past few decades is a denial of this truth, and the Great Reset is a doubling down on that denial. A sustainable society must nurture the Self and our awareness of it. However, that is not such an easy concept to apply.
Stay tuned.
