For those of us who are observers,
who are here to learn from events,
these are interesting times.

Twitter is going through an interesting transition.

Politics is the art and science of gaining influence.
Politics focuses on words, images, and impressions.
Narrative is the art and science of building perspective,
which is then used to inform choices.
Narrative focuses on themes, associations, and context.

Narrative exists on a level above politics: that is,
a person’s politics affects their choices far less
than the narrative they adhere to.

The old Twitter tried to control politics,
while this new Twitter will ignore politics
to focus on controlling narrative.
