According to the story, there have been three industrial revolutions already, and we are at the beginning of the fourth. The first was steam, the second was electricity, and the third was computing. The fourth will be humans.

Like genetically modifying salmon to be better suited for how salmon farms are designed, rather than changing the design of the salmon farms to better suit natural salmon, we will change humans so they work better in ideal industrialist factories.

Instead of limiting productivity, we will alter human behavior. There is no profit in limiting productivity and there are too many people. This is the standard formula for tyranny and slavery.

The 4th Industrial Revolution is a euphemism for tyranny and slavery.

However, like genetically modifying vegetables to endure a weed killer that slowly kills the people who consume the vegetables, technology has evolved to where people cannot use it without suffering serious consequences.

Instead of limiting technology, we will alter humans. We are locked in the pursuit of an image of perfection at the expense of the perfection we already had, a balanced ecosystem,.. and our survival.
