Ants have an industrial structure, but no social structure.
Wolves have a social structure, but no industrial structure.
Humans are the only species on earth to have both.
We started with just a social structure, but slowly we are trying to include an industrial structure. This is the battle that has propelled civilization forward. Humanity will blossom when we achieve a sustainable balance; not a moment before.
Historically, our religions have been social operating systems. Thus, we have seen the intrusion of economic and political philosophies in this effort to establish an industrial operating system.
Bill Gates gathered a bunch of unused computer programs and stuck them together to make the Microsoft Windows operating system. Today he is trying to do the exact same thing, but on a much larger scale. One that includes the behaviors of all of humanity.
The question is whether or not this new system can be comprehensive enough to hold everyone comfortably, while still allowing people the freedom to adapt to their specific environments.
What will not work, is a single operating system for both our social and industrial structures. Human nature just won’t allow it.
