Here in the west, we have a “Do as I say, not as I do” social/political structure. “Do as I say” is overbearing, unbalanced, inefficient, and unsustainable. It nurtures, and wastes a lot of energy with, unnecessary internal conflict. The alternative is a “Do as I do” mentorship social/political structure.
In the short term, “Do as I say” is a more dominant system, but is prone to sudden and catastrophic collapses. For the long term “Do as I do” is the only option. The trick is that families, communities, and societies that choose to use “Do as I do” must adapt to survive the pressures of their “Do as I say” neighbors.
