Three necessary traits an individual must have in order to build productive, long-term relationships: 

1. An individual must take time to build their own vision of what they want the relationship to be, 
2. they must have the ability to communicate this vision honestly and have the willingness to negotiate and adapt as necessary, and 
3. they must have the maturity to be responsible for the choices they make. 

All communities, nations, religions, corporations, and other institutions are mass, long-term relationships.
