The computer models are working as they always have… they are not broken.

There are natural patterns and man-made patterns. To survive in this world we must be able to recognise the difference. 

We might be able to reliably model natural patterns; even as they adapt and evolve; but man-made patterns are impossible to model. With those we must instead, try to guess intention. 

So, be alert when the models appear to be broken, and the outcome of the event is too perfect, too profitable, to be natural.
