Politics is the art and science of gaining influence.
Management is the art and science of getting things done.

To rise out of famine and into feast, politics and management must be in alignment; working together to make everyone’s life better. During these times, leaders are intuitively aware that their own success depends on the success of everyone around them.

Upon entering a time of feast, politics and management begin to slowly separate as the leaders forget that their own success is tied to the success of everyone around them. Eventually, as the society begins to descend down into famine, politics becomes the opiate of the people; used to distract the public from reason and sound management. The last effort of the lost politician is to continuously work to convince the public that they need to sacrifice more and more, while the wealthy leaders maintain their lavish lifestyle,.. and that the only reason the society continues to descend into famine is that the public is never sacrificing enough.
