A good leader has a vision they are able to infect other people with,.. like  a virus. Some people are immune to the virus and they are allowed to move along with their own lives. Those who get infected are able to see the vision; the big picture, their own role in it, and, most importantly, how being a part of this vision benefits them as well.

A bad leader has no vision that others can share in. As a result, the leader isolates themselves, becomes paranoid and suspicious, and views everyone as objects. Thus, the bad leader relies on middle managers to crack the whip on the workers who get trapped in a thankless job with no respect or future.

Our current political system uses politicians, including the President and Vice President, Senators and Representatives, and Governors and their state counterparts, as nothing more than middle managers.

Bad leadership has never been sustainable.
