Evolution is an echelon, not a single line; a never ending paceline, and not a sprint to the finish… and it does not matter for whom or for what; living organisms or AI driven robots. Everyone becomes obsolete long before we realize it.

Even the world Bill Gates is trying to create is already obsolete; nothing but a vision from the past… like the light of a distant star reaching us long after it is dead.

We all take turns pulling the echelon forward, then we fade back and out of sight. Microsoft was a good pull, back in the day, but now it is falling off the back. Nonetheless, our progress is slowed, turned off a true course; a leader insisting himself like an aging rocker desperate for the old days; to shine again like a star.

Arrogance is only seeing one side of a story; high technology evolves faster than anything we have ever witnessed… It is a marvel! However, it has to. High tech goes obsolete faster than anything we have ever witnessed.

Every human has watched technologies come and go… and, deep down inside, every human knows we can live without them. That is the most damning of realities; high tech is a fiat currency… if people lose interest, it has no value.

The environment moved on long ago, and we will have our hands full trying to catch back up after this indulgent little high tech brevet.
