I have spent enough nights camping by myself in the wilderness to know that silence is when we should listen… and look.

Chattering birds, fluttering back and forth, calling to each other on a lazy summer afternoon, disappear when a shadow slides softly across the ground.

Groups of friends enjoying an evening out, sharing stories, laughing out loud, instinctively pipe down when a solitary pair of sullen eyes fixes on one in the group from across the room.

The strongest animal instinct still embedded in our psyche is not lust. Not even close.

Silence is when we should listen… and look.
