A view of long term pandemic management.

Everyone should wash their hands regularly, stay home if they feel themselves getting sick, and decide and share their choice as to how much treatment they wish to receive if they do get sick. That choice should always be respected.

However, there are three distinct groups of people:

  1. People who are afraid of getting the disease… should self-isolate as much as possible.
  2. People who are more afraid of spreading the disease than of getting the disease… should self-isolate as much as possible, but also help the people of the first group as much as they can.
  3. People who are not concerned at all about getting or spreading the disease… should go about their business as much as possible while keeping a distance from, and respecting the needs of, the first two groups.

The needs of all three groups should be respected and utilized to their fullest, as all three groups are needed for a community to survive.
