There are three general environments that we live in: the Socio-political, Economic, and Natural.

All three have value as we try to build an enduring civilization, but only the Natural environment is not man-made. And only the Natural environment has complete dominance over us. The only power the other two environments have is the power we give to them.

A good religion, practised respectfully, would be a tool to help us keep our priorities in proper order. From my perspective, that proper order is Natural first, then Economic, and Socio-political last.

Greed and narcissism are forms of hoarding.
Greed is destructive to the Economic environment, 
narcissism is destructive to the Socio-political environment, 
as hoarding is destructive to a person's Natural environment.
