According to this Freudian model of the psyche, the id is the set of uncoordinated instinctual trends; the super-ego plays the critical and moralizing role; and the ego is the organized, realistic part that mediates between the desires of the id and the super-ego.

A Nation is a group-mind.
~ The military and banks are the id.
~ Religions and academics are the super-ego.
~ A Nation’s cultural identity is the ego; the balance of the two.
~ Media, politics, and art (including philosophy) are the processing of that ego.
For an individual, meditation and art are acts of processing that build a stronger ego. At the national level, the group-mind level, it is not much different. Except there needs to be people who play a leadership role… people who are dedicated to the process.
Banks have CEOs and the military has generals,
religions have Priests, Rabbis, and Imams, and academics have professors.
Who leads the processing?
Maturity is not measured by the things we choose to be responsible for. It is measured by whether or not we accept responsibility for the things in our environment that need attention.
