Politics is the opiate of the people. The idea that a carefully worded argument can change the views and behaviors of everyone else so that our lives become easier, more fulfilling, and even perfect, is delusional and absolute folly.

Anything that is used to gain political leverage, whether it be of science or philosophy, no matter how righteous and correct, will eventually be dismantled and destroyed… with no stone left unturned.

This is because politics reduces everything to a black and white, all or nothing format for maximum affect. The truth is always more nuanced and complicated. The media supports this because there is more profit in a simple, highly charged conflict, than there is in a complicated and delicate process.

Thus, our political environment, managed by mass and social media, has evolved for the sole purpose of provoking a reaction. If we do not react in the proper way, we will be abused and ostracized until we do. This interaction is good and right when it exposes people who are dysfunctional and criminally minded. However, more and more it is being used to manipulate honest people who only want to live their own lives.

To survive this flood does not require being smart or right. To survive this flood we only need to build a vision of the life we wish to live, an ark, and have the focus and courage to abide by it.

Emotions and feelings are for navigating through the environment, not for giving us a sense of identity.

We cannot change the process of evolution with legislation.
