Our society forces everything into a perspective of Good vs Evil. All of the subtle nuances are wiped clean, with the result being that things and events are either misinterpreted or ignored.

There has never been a war between Good and Evil. Wars are only fought between Evils. This is because the only way for Good to beat Evil, is for good to first become Evil.

The main vehicle for Good’s transition into Evil is the fact of evolution that competitors will absorb one another’s traits. Thus, if we choose to compete with the worst of people, then we will unavoidably absorb their traits.

Or, considering The Evolution of Consciousness, if we compete with how we imagine people to be, then we will absorb those imaginary traits.

It is this process of distorting our own evolution through delusion that leads us into fanaticism, fascism, and tyranny.
