The problem we face today, is that our political discourse is dominated by comedians. Which means that our society, developmentally, is equivalent to eighth grade. This is not a criticism of comedians, or our supposed leaders, but of the general population.

Imagine a classroom full of students. If the students are immature, then either the teacher or the class-clown dominates the room. The class-clown dominates through immaturity, while the teacher can use either strength or maturity. Unfortunately, strength is easier.

If the students are mature, then the personalities of both the teacher and class-clown are neutralized and all functions smoothly in the classroom.
